About Gabriel

Gabriel Katzner – Founding Partner

Gabriel is the founding partner of Katzner Law Group. In 2002, Gabriel earned his Juris Doctorate (J.D.) with honors from the Fordham University School of Law. While at Fordham, Gabriel was an editor of the Urban Law Journal.

He spent the first seven years of his legal career practicing at Cahill Gordon & Reindel LLP, a prominent New York-based international law firm.

Prior to attending law school, and while attending college, Gabriel worked for his family’s accounting firm as a means to finance his education. In 1999, upon graduating college, he successfully passed the Certified Publication Accounting (CPA) Examination.

Gabriel believes that rather than droning on as to why he’s the “greatest estate planning attorney the world has ever seen” (something of course said here in jest) you’ll be better served reading what others have to say about him by clicking the “Client Reviews” link below:

He is also very involved in a variety of professional and community organizations and an active member of WealthCounsel, LLC, a leading provider of services and ongoing education to attorneys in the estate planning field. Mr. Katzner is a speaker for local organizations and the public.

Gabriel is licensed to practice law in New York. He is admitted to practice before the United States Federal Courts for the Southern, Eastern, and Northern Districts of New York and the New York State Courts.

On a personal note, he is married to his wonderful wife Olivia and they have two young children, Owen and Lila (who are featured on the homepage of this website!). He’s also the proud dad to a 14-year old black Labrador. He loves photography, reading, travel, and spending time with family.

Mission Statement

We deliver inventive and effective solutions and counsel.

Our mission statement is "we deliver inventive and effective solutions and counsel." We did not arrive at this mission statement overnight, but rather it took 15 years of client-focused hard work and every word of it has meaning, as follows:

We think of our firm as a team. It may sound cliché, but nothing is more important to us than fit. Our firm culture encourages and rewards collaboration in all aspects of our business, because we believe collaboration enhances client service.

The work of the world's greatest attorney is worth little unless it can be translated into a timely action plan for clients. We understand that our clients are depending on us to timely delivery advice and counsel and we are guided accordingly.

There are a lot of smart lawyers out there, but smart is frequently not enough. Some lawyers have a deserved reputation as difficult to work with. We take great pride in our ability to work well with others and deliver inventive solutions to legal concerns.

Our approach to an engagement always has to be governed by the particular attributes of the engagement, including size, time constraints, and the like. For us, efficiency is encompassed within effectiveness. It is of no benefit to deliver a document today which was needed yesterday.

We are at heart a transactional firm. We consistently demonstrate our ability to relate to and significantly help our clients solve the problems that stand between them and their goals and objectives. We pride ourselves on our well-rounded education in law, accounting, and finance.

Sometimes counsel takes the form of a legal representation. Other times the best counsel we give clients and prospective clients is that we are not the best firm to help with a particular engagement. In all the counsel we give, we consistently demonstrate that we are long-term relationship-oriented with our clients and prospective clients, and that we understand that even by foregoing a representation offered to us, we build faith and trust in our clients.
